Day 11
2 miles done this morning, a little slower than Mondays run but that is OK I know I can't run faster every time in fact I know that is not good for you and I need some slower runs. That last part is hard for me, slow down. It was 32 degrees outside this morning, double brrrrrrrrrr. The shower after felt so good. Well breakfast time then off to work.

Day 10
10 minute trainer cardio this morning. Tomorrow is another 2 mile run I wonder if it will be faster? I know it will be cold. Well I made it into the double digits of days now and find it is easier to keep myself motivated I will be glad when the first 6 weeks are done because then I know that I will keep it moving on. My knee feels fine no tweaks pressure or soreness so I hope it stays that way

Cowtown Classic
I guess I never posted this I just saved it as a draft and since it was a PR for a half marathon I figured I should post it. I ran this on 10-4-09
So today I ran the Cowtown Classic half marathon in Sacramento. This was a race I really wanted to do as it wound through a lot of the neighborhoods that I grew up in. I also had a goal in mind for this race to finish in under 2 hours.
So today I ran the Cowtown Classic half marathon in Sacramento. This was a race I really wanted to do as it wound through a lot of the neighborhoods that I grew up in. I also had a goal in mind for this race to finish in under 2 hours.
I got there early and ran a nice easy paced mile to get myself all good and warm and then stretched really good before the start. They had pacers at this race so I found the 2 hour pace guy and lined up where I could keep my eye on him.
This race was a marathon and half marathon and there were 5000 entrants, that is the most people I have seen at a race yet and man was the starting area packed. When the start went off I was a lot calmer than my previous 2 halfs and just did the walk to the starting line keeping my eye on the pace guy.
When we started running I took off at my normal pace and noticed that I was ahead of the 2 hour pacer and pulling away. I almost just kept going but decided to fall back a little and see how things played out. Our first mile was like 9:23 and I was a little skeptical but I stayed with the pacer and glad I did by mile 4 we were at 36:00 right on schedule. The pacer was great he was talking to us and encouraging us had us loosen up a few times, he had us under 9 minute miles by 5 miles and kept us that way.
By mile 10 the pace started catching up with me and I could feel myself slowing. I looked at my watch and knew I could afford a little slower of a pace so I watched the pace guy slowly leave me and ran my own pace. When I got to 1/2 mile to go I looked at my watch and couldn't belive how much time I lost it was 1:55:34 I knew I had to pick it up if I was going to make it in under 2 hours. I pushed and pushed hard, I wanted to slow but just told myself "come on its only 1/2 mile" so I kept pushing and digging. Final result 1:59:53 no problem I had a whole 6 seconds to spare to make it in under 2 hours.
I really enjoyed running with a pacer and he is also going to be a pacer at the marathon I am running in Dec but he is going to be the 4:10 pacer and I am thinking 4:30 is more the time I want to shoot for. Well I made a PR today
Day 9
Took me all day to get out there but I did 2 mile run done at 10:23/mile pace that is 18 seconds/mile faster than my last run and there was wind. I did notice when I looked at the flow chart that Saturdays run was a much more even pace where todays was up and down a lot but hey it worked.
Why is it that the battery in your smoke detector only goes out when you are sleeping... beep...beep... maybe if I ignore it and try to sleep it will... beep...beep...crap and so it goes up at 3 am taking the battery out...beep.

Day 8
So this morning my lazy self tried to convince my buff and fit self that today could be a rest day. Fortunately my buff and fit self won and I did the 10 minute trainer cardio. I can't wait until I meet my buff and fit self so I can thank him, you see he is trapped inside my lazy self and has been held captive for quite some time now but he is breaking free.
Today I get to go to the Strum Shop in Roseville for a Sacramento area gitty builder get together (say that fast) I am really excited to meet other people who build cigar box guitars and play them. Should be a fun day.

Day 6
Weighed in today at 118.4 that's down 1.6# the first week not bad. I was thinking about my weight this morning and when I got hurt last July I was 209 so I really only gained 11# between July and Jan. 5 of those were gained in Dec, soooooo I got this. If I stay at the rate I did this week I would lose like 39# over the 180 goal I have. II know I will have weeks with no loss and that is ok as long as the inches fall off.
Did the Yoga Flex workout from the 10 minute trainer this morning, all that stretching felt good. Another 2 mile run tomorrow to cap off the week, it is supposed to be cold again, oh well.
